Acute effect of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 inhibitor on oxidized low-density lipoprotein and lipid profile in patients at cardiovascular risk

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors are a new class of potent lipid-lowering drugs. Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) is the key pathogenic factor leading to atherosclerosis. However, its effect on ox-LDL levels has not been clinically reported. For very high-risk Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) patients, guidelines propose stricter blood lipid control targets reduce recurrence events.

Lipid profile and oxidized lipoprotein levels in patients with acute myeloid leukemia

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is blood and bone marrow malignancy. Low-density oxidative lipoprotein (oxLDL) is a pro-inflammatory factor that has free radicals in its structure. OxLDL levels are also rising in diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers. Studies have shown that oxLDL and dyslipidemia are more common in patients with various cancers. This stud...

Effect of Vitamin Supplementation on Serum Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein Levels in Male Subjects with Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors

Objective(s) Oxidized low-density lipoproteins (ox-LDLs) appear to play a significant role in atherogenesis. In fact, circulating ox-LDL concentrations have been recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The main objectives of this study were to assess the effects of antioxidant vitamins on ox-LDL as a biomarker of CVD in male subjects with CVD risk factors. Materials and ...

Hypercholesterolemia, low density lipoprotein receptor and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin-type 9

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is the main cause of mortality and morbidity in the world. Plasma levels of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) are positively correlated with the risk of atherosclerosis. High plasma LDL concentrations in patients with hypercholesterolemia lead to build-up of LDL in the inner walls of the arteries, which becomes oxidized and promotes the formation...

Lipoprotein(a) catabolism is regulated by proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 through the low density lipoprotein receptor.

Elevated levels of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) have been identified as an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease. Plasma Lp(a) levels are reduced by monoclonal antibodies targeting proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). However, the mechanism of Lp(a) catabolism in vivo and the role of PCSK9 in this process are unknown. We report that Lp(a) internalization by hepatic HepG...

Clearance of plasma proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 by low-density lipoprotein apheresis.

Clearance of Plasma Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin 9 by Low-Density Lipoprotein Apheresis To the Editor: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) is a secreted protein that modulates plasma low-density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations in part by facilitating degradation of the LDL receptor. It also mediates degradation of the very-low density lipoprotein receptor and apolipoprot...
